In just a few hours, INcubes' second cohort -- which they call Intake 02 -- will pitch to investors, the media and their fellow entrepreneurs. After three busy months at the downtown Toronto accelerator, the four startups are finally ready for Demo Day.

The event, which begins at 1 p.m. EST, is invite only. However you can watch a live broadcast at INcubes.ca. They’ll also be live tweeting at @INcubes.

It’s been a busy few weeks for the Economic Development Center (EDC) of St. Charles County, with two expansions, three graduations, and new six new tenants at the Missouri incubator.

DreamIt Ventures has announced the 14 startups that will make up its Fall 2012 class in Philadelphia.

Five of the startups were former participants of DreamIt Access, the accelerator’s minority entrepreneurship program with Comcast Ventures.

The Philadelphia program began yesterday, and wraps up on December 5th with a Demo Day.

Six Canadian digital media startups have successfully completed their participation in the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) initiative in New York City, and another six have entered the program.

The announcement was made by the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway late last week.

Maybe we comment too much about small city / small town incubator initiatives, but who can deny that they're fascinating? We've written about the "can-do, no obstacle is too big" spirit of some and we've written about the "oh my gosh, it's gonna add $0.05 to my property tax bill" of others. That's code for big-picture vs. short-sighted attitudes. Frankly, though, it's much more fun to write about the ones who aim high. So today it's fun to write about the Haliburton Creative Business Incubator (HCBI)  in beautiful cottage country north of Toronto Canada.

The city of Melton Australia, near Melbourne, has been awarded $14.6 million (Australian) to set up the Western Business Accelerator and Centre for Excellence (Western BACE) in the city. This is a major piece of the $21M needed for the whole project. Doors should open for business some time in 2015.

Melton City Council will work with a consortium to set up Western BACE, including Lend Lease, the Burbank Group of Companies and the Kangan Institute.

Inceptis LLC is a new medical device accelerator that's planning to open its doors in Minneapolis/St. Paul. As of this morning, its web page hasn't much information on it but we've been able to glean some information from various sources.   The company was created by  Daniel Sigg and Devicix, a medical product design company based in Eden Prairie MN. Stigg will be Inceptis' CEO. Devicix's experience in the trials, tribulations, and long time scales of getting medical devices approved for use will definitely be a big asset for startups at the planned accelerator.

LI Tech Comets accelerator, based in Hauppauge NY, is open for applications. Three spots are available, and successful applicants get a $50k package that includes free rent, mentoring and the usual other support. The program is 3 months long with a further 3 months for startups that they deem promising.Their web page is unusually sparse about details; for example we couldn't find any information about application deadlines, what kind of stake they expect to take in successful companies and so on.

Just a few weeks ago, Novotorium announced its decision to pivot from a general business incubator, to one focused on health, wellness and nutrition startups. Now the program, based out of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, has named Stuart Segal as its new Managing Director.

Segal has extensive experience in the healthcare industry.

The goal of any accelerator worth its salt is to nurture worthwhile startups and then get them launched and funded. The operative word is 'funded' because without funding there obviously is no launch. Two seed accelerators --one in Lithuania and one in Poland-- clearly get this important point. Next month, Poland's Huge Thing and Lithuania's StartupHighway will hold their demo day in London, one of the planet's major financial centers.

YetiZen, a cornerstone of the game development community that organizes the wildly popular San Francisco Game Developer's Workshop series and runs the only games exclusive accelerator program, launched the YetiZen Innovation Lab today. The YetiZen Innovation Lab is 20,000 square feet of a games community center in the heart of San Francisco which is focused on empowering all aspects of the games community

Everyone knows that stats about successes (or not) in the  incubator field are hard to come by. Since players in this field are really business that help start other businesses that's pretty surprising. After all, shouldn't all businesses be fact-driven? Lack of data is big reason for the skepticism we often see about incubators. On the other hand, those that are willing to publish data add to their credibility. So it was nice to see that the Northwest Ontario (Canada) Innovation Centre has published its first set of stats.

A new accelerator program, focused solely on cross-platform mobile development, has launched in Hong Kong.

AcceleratorHK is the brainchild of entrepreneur Stephen Forte. Forte was previously a mentor at Haxlr8r, a hardware accelerator based out of Shenzhen, China. His participation in the Haxlr8r program inspired him to start a similar program dedicated to hybrid mobile development.

Yes, that’s right. We said free.

nxtARROW is trying to lure entrepreneurs to Buffalo, NY with the promise of free startup services for one year. The goal is to bring 10,000 new jobs to the city in the next 10 years.

nxtARROW is an economic development company and business incubator. It says its mission is to make Buffalo a world class destination for startups. In fact it styles itself as the “Queen City of Startups.”
