Hub Raleigh seems to be filling a need in the Raleigh NC region. We've learned that they've added 17 new companies in the last month. That's pretty impressive considering they only officially opened at the beginning of October --many incubators would be happy to get to 17 in a year.

Here are the new companies at HR:

Boston.com is reporting that two planned accelerators in the Boston area are thinking about joining forces. Both Exponential Boston and LearnLaunch intend to target education technology with seperate accelerators that each hopes to launch next year. Since both groups are targeting the same potential startups, investors and sponsors at more-or-less the same time, that could spell problems. Boston.com says the two groups are meeting to see if combining forces makes sense. It probably does. Read more here.

North Shore InnoVentures, an incubator based in Beverly, MA, announced that it has graduated four of its clients, bringing its total of graduates up to seven. The incubator also announced that it's added three new clients. North Shore InnoVentures primarily targets startups in the cleantech and life sciences fields.

Stephen Colbert might not like Windsor Ontario much (here's what he thinks) but Windsor --just across the US/Canada border from Detroit-- turns out to be a friendly place for startups. Case in point: "Startup Drinks Windsor" is celebrating its second anniversary today at a local pub. What's not to like about an organization call Startup Drinks? Apparently there will be cake involved, too. Digging deeper, it turns out that Startup Drinks is a Canada-wide phenomenon. Startup responsibly. Drink responsibly.

At the event, Start Here - 8 Stories about Entrepreneurship in Windsor-Essex, a Windsor made video, will be officially launched. Film creators, John Chan and Frank Mancina, will be on hand to discuss the making on this video. "When we heard about this event we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to reach out to like minded individuals with the same passion and entrepreneurial spirit that the video entails. Why not showcase and encourage others to start here! " said Frank Mancina.

The Digital Media Zone incubator is kind of like my favorite Aunt's house: supportive atmosphere, everyone pitches in, always room for one more at the table, and always lots of good things happening there. So it was no surprise to learn that the DMZ has just added seven new teams. One of them, Rayku, launched its first product today. The Innogen Business Accelerator in Schenectady NY has moved to a new office at 414 Union St. The accelerator can house up to 11 businesses. Startups accepted into their program get $10k seed funding but its not known how much stake the accelerator takes in return.

Matter Ventures, a new accelerator located in San Francisco's SoMa distract, was launched today. The accelerator will target media entrepreneurs and is being set up by the James L. Knight Foundation, TV station KQED and Public Radio Exchange (PRX). The Knight Foundation and KQED are each investing $1.25M; PRX is providing strategic management support. The accelerator is now open for applications until January 6 and the program gets underway in late February 2013

The new space for the student business accelerator at Western Kentucky University is set to open tomorow (December 4). The accelerator is part of WKU's accelerator program. The students will get to use 1,200 square feet there to work on their startups while they're still at school.

We're seeing reports today that New Zealand's The Icehouse incubator is setting up its first satellite office. Peter Wogan (pictured here) will visit  New Zealand Hawke's Bay area about twice a week to facilitate The Icehouse program there.

Microsoft is ready for round two in India, but this time it’s doubling down.

The company has just opened up applications for its Accelerator for Windows Azure program.

The software giant is looking for startups with a focus on cloud, internet or mobile. Starting March 1^st, the startups will work out of Microsoft’s downtown Bangalore offices for 4 months.

The deadline to apply for the program is January 15^th.
