NewMe 'Pop-Up' accelerator happens in Miami in November
NewME Accelerator has just announced that it will run what they refer to as a “Pop-Up” accelerator program in Miami in mid-November. NewMe, based in San Francisco, is an accelerator that focuses on entrepreneurs from groups who are underrepresented in technology. The NewME Pop-Up event is a concentrated three-day version of their 12-week Silicon Valley start-up accelerator. This is the first Pop-Up that NewMe will run nationally. It will also serve as a sort of scouting program for NewMe because one of the prizes for the Pop-up Demo Day competition is a slot in an upcoming 2013 NewME Accelerator cohort in San Francisco.
The event is scheduled for November 12-14. NewMe is partnering with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and The LAB Miami for the Miami event.
“We’re excited to take NewME on the road to Miami. The city’s rich culture and diverse demographic couldn’t be a better fit for NewME’s focus on accelerating underrepresented tech talent,” said Angela Benton, founder & CEO of NewME Accelerator. “Additionally, partnering with two leading local organizations, Knight Foundation and The LAB Miami, and taking this from idea to execution so quickly has been a true testament to the start-up culture that already exists there.”
For a $99 fee, participants get one-on-one coaching sessions, 'master class' instruction for crafting and presenting pitch decks, and a Demo Day hosted at The Light Box. Interested start-ups can sign-up at http://newmeaccelerator.com/events-popups. A detailed agenda is here: http://www.newmeaccelerator.com/newme-miami-popup-full-agenda/ . It costs $25 to attend the demo day.
