Cleantech accelerator Greenstart announces new class

Greenstart, the San Francisco-based cleantech accelerator, has picked its next startup class.

About 165 startups applied for a spot in the program, but only four made the cut. That may seem like a small class, but that’s typical for Greenstart. The last class had only five startups; the class before, four again. As Greenstart says, they pick “the cream of the crop in digital cleantech.”

All four startups will get $115,000 in cash in exchange for 2-9% equity. Startups also have an option of a $100,000 convertible note.

Over the next three months they’ll get advice and support as they work on four crucial areas: business model design, UX, branding, and capital/fundraising.

The new startups are:
> Spinlister - A marketplace for peer to peer bike rentals
> Root3 - Designs energy optimization software for non-utility energy producers
> People Power - Delivers cloud services & mobile apps for the Internet of Things
> PVPower - A web platform that powers America’s solar projects

Greenstart is also accepting applications for its next class.
